At his home

Picture #1 of Thomas Scholfield McDonald was taken about 1888 from a Tin Type. Thomas would have been about age 57. This picture was in the possession of the descendants of William Wesley McDonald, son of Thomas S. McDonald and Susan Good. The picture was probably taken at or around Glenwood, Pope, Minnesota.

Picture #2 of Susan Good was also taken about 1888 from a Tin Type. Susan would have been about age 52. The picture was taken at the same time as that of Thomas S. McDonald in #1 above. This picture was in the possession of the descendants of Violet Belle McDonald, daughter of Thomas S. McDonald and Susan Good.

Picture #3 of Thomas S. McDonald, Susan Good, and their daughter Violet Belle McDonald was also taken about 1888. This picture was taken from a 4" x 6" Cabinet Card. It was evidently a reprint of an original tin type. This is evident from the fact that the items in the background of the picture are reversed from those in #1 and #2 above. The bottom of the picture is identified by "Rich, Sauk Centre, Minn", probably the photo studio that reproduced the photo from the originial tin type. This picture was in the possession of the descendants of William Wesley McDonald, son of Thomas S. McDonald and Susan Good.

Picture #4 of Thomas S. McDonald was taken about 1848. This picture was taken from a 2 1/2 x 4 inch Carte de Visite. It was evidently a reprint of an original tin type or other early photo process. The back of the picture shows that it was made by "D.C. Roades, Verndale, Minn". Handwritten on the back was "Dr. T.S. McDonald when he was 17". Since Thomas was born in 1831, the picture must have been taken in 1848. This picture was in the possession of the descendants of Violet Belle McDonald, daughter of Thomas S. McDonald and Susan Good.

Picture #5 was taken from a Tin Type in the possession of the descendants of Violet Belle McDonald. Those in the picture are as follows: Top Row, Left to Right, is Cora Pennie who later married Albert Calvin McDonald, Son of Thomas and Susan; Julius Clarence McDonald, Son of Thomas and Susan; Clara Lucinda McDonald, Daughter of Thomas and Susan. Bottom Row, from Left to Right, is Leslie Pennie, later the husband of Mary Ellen McDonald, Daughter of Thomas and Susan; Amby? Walker, perhaps a friend or teacher; and John Walter McDonald, Son of Thomas and Susan. The photo was taken about 1889.

Picture #6 is a picture of Thomas S. McDonald, his second Wife Minnie A. Ward, Clara Lucinda McDonald, and Clara's child, probably Clarence Arthur Kreuger. This original picture is a 4" x 6" Cabinet Card and was taken about 1899. The picture is marked with "A.E. Strandbert, Henning, Minn". The back of the picture is written, Dr. McDonald & 2nd wife, Clara & Child". This picture was also in the possession of the descendants of William Wesley McDonald.

Picture #7 is a picture of the seven Sons of Thomas S. McDonald and Susan Good. The picture was taken at Gasberg Studio, Ogden, Utah, about 1796. Top row from left to right is: Julius Clarence (1876-1905); John Walter (1871-1957); Albert Calvin (1866-1929); & Clinton Delmer (1878-1964). The bottom row from left to right is: James Henry (1857-1934); William Wesley (1855-1928); & Charles Arthur (1864-1953). This picture was in the possession of the descendants of William Wesley McDonald.

Picture #8 was taken from a Tin Type of William Wesley McDonald (Left) and James Henry McDonald (Right), the two eldest sons of Thomas Scholfield McDonald and Susan Good. The photo was taken about 1872 when William was about age 17 and James about age 16. The photo is in the possession of the descendants of Violet Belle McDonald.
